I graduated from the State Music School of the 1’st Grade in Wałbrzych, in the cello class of prof. Aleksander Czajkowski. Also the State Music School of 2’nd Grade in Wrocław, in the singing class of Renata Janiszewska MA. I am a graduate of the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, which I graduated with a very good note in 1999, in the singing class of prof. Kazimierz Myrlak. During my studies I specialized in vocal chamber music and oratory and cantata music performance, as this kind of repertoire is a base of my work on voice and vocal technique. Since the very commencement of the studies I have been performing as a soloist with the Chamber and Symphony Orchestra of the Academy of Music and Academic Choir „Szumiący Jesion” under the direction of prof. Zofia Urbanyi-Krasnodębska, in Poland and abroad /including two great European tours/ inter alia, in Germany, France, Spain and Italy. I performed well-known works of J.S.Bach, J.F.Haendl, W.A.Mozart, F.Schubert, Spain composers and Polish creators such as Moniuszko, Szarzyński, Żebrowski, Pałłasz and others. At Lower Silesian Chamber Opera in Szczawno Zdrój, I sang the part of Bastienne /W.A.Mozart singspiel Bastien und Basienne/ and part of Amor in Orfeo ed Euridice by Ch.W.Gluck /1999/. Also in 1999 I sang the solo part during the CD recording of Requiem in D minor by W.A.Mozart /Luna Music/ under the direction of Małgorzata Sapiecha-Muzioł. In May 2000 I was qualified for the Queen Elisabeths’ Competition in Brussels while in August 2001 for the Queen Sonia’s Competition in Oslo, in both competitions, which are the most important artistic events, I introduced myself very well. I also attended masterclasses, inter alia, at prof. Gerhard Kahre and prof. Rusko Ruskov, as well as Courses on the Interpretation of Oratorio and Cantata Music as a part of the International Music and Art Festival „Wratislavia Cantans”.
After graduating I began independent creative work i.e. by giving several concerts, which had and have exceptional reputation among the audience. To complete these events and my great success there was a record and release of CD called Arias and songs of Italian bel canto masters /Bellini, Donizetti, Verdi, Puccini / engaging International Foundation „Wratislavia Cantans”. The record has been held under the honorary patronage of Mr. Marshall Jan Waszkiewicz and the Lower Silesian Marshal Office .
In May 2002, responding to the invitation of Central Culture Agency in French Alsace I sang the series of recitals/the program of Great French Opera/. These concerts have been very well received which led to regular work also in Switzerland.
In August /15-19.08.02/ I had the honour to be invited at XVII Chopin-Festival in Gaming /Der Internationalen Chopin-Gesellschaft in Wien/where I went on to perform in addition to remarkable singers and musicians. Starting from September 2002 I was the member of the Management Board of Wrocław branch of SPAM for a term 2002/2007, where I e.g. was responsible for the Concert Action. Specific concerts in which I was delighted to participate were: cyclical concerts in Vienna Tumskie Evenings, „Musical Heroes” concert with accompaniment of Wrocław Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Mariusz Smolij. Concerts and recitals in Huninge, Strasbourg and Offendorf, as well as concerts in reply to the Polish Institute in Vienna. I was also invited for some concerts taking place during the World Contrabass Festival Wrocław 14-22 August 2004, where I enjoyed performing with an outstanding American soloist, Jeff Bradetich, at Masterly Recital and the XX, jubilee Chopin- Festival in der Kartauze Gaming 19-22 August 2004, where I performed the songs of F. Chopin accompanied by Kammerorchester der Slowakichen Philharmonie under the direction of Ewald Danel – part of Cleopatra from G.F.Haendel Giulio Cesar in Egitto opera. Starting from 2004 I am being still in touch with e.g. Legnicka Symphony Orchestra, where under the direction of Benedykt Ksiądzyna, Józef Wiłkomirski or Jerzy Salwarowski, numerous interesting concerts and artistic projects have been made. A very interesting experience for me was also working for the film of Jan Jakub Kolski Afonia and the bees / 2008r./. In 2013 I made a record of „Still I am waiting for you..” containing beautiful songs of the 50’s and 60’s by ingenious polish composers with piano accompaniment – by Paweł Wrzecionowski. These recitals have already achieved a great success.
At present, in addition to the artistic work, since 2003, I am an educator of a solo singing in the Collective State Music Schools, where since 2009 I also hold the position of vice-director. Over the years of work – I received 11 times a Director’s Award for the outstanding achievements in a didactic, educational and care work. This year I have received from President of the Republic of Poland, Bronisław Komorowski a bronze medal for the Exemplary and Long-Standing service, which medal was given by Mrs. Ewa Mańkowska, Vice-Voivode and Mrs Beata Pawłowicz, Lower Silesia Chief Education Officer. One of my major achievements at CSMS in Legnica was the erection of The Seminar on Performance of Early-Italian Arias and Music and – concurrently – The Seminar on Sharing Knowledge in Vocalism and Vocal Pedagogy – in 2014 the XI’ th edition was held already. I am also the author of a Learning Program in a field of a solo singing in a second educational stage, on which teachers in our School work in. I was also a university teacher of School of Management in Legnica at the Pedagogy Faculty and still I am- the Witelon State Higher Vocational School in Legnica, on the Humanities Department. I also cooperate as a voice emission specialist with the, „Madrygał” Legnica Cultural Centre Choir as well as the „Legnica” Song and Dance Ensemble of Legnica Cultural Centre. I hold the title of of certified teacher. I am a teacher caring for a comprehensive – not only the artistic – development of pupils and students and achieve very good results in a vocal pedagogy. I am one of the few teachers leading students in two ways – I give them a possibility to study bel canto and in many styles of the light music – if such are their abilities and skills. My students study at renowned universities and work in great opera and philharmonic teams.
Since 2010 I am the owner and creator of Agnieszka Justyna Szumiło Vocal Workshop, assuring vocal care and voice & breath conditioning for all those needing it for health, to develop their talent and improvement in well-being. Those who wish to follow their dreams- at any age and point of life. Youngest pupils are 4 years old…the oldest…60+. Leading a Workshop, combining it with a teacher’s and artistic work, requires a tremendous effort and extreme organizational skills – it is very successful in this respect: This year with children, youth and adults, we have provided a summary of our two year work – we made a record of „I am singing, still I am alive..” , which shall be issued in December 2014 by MOKSiR in Chojnów. This record is our greatest success and joy.
Since September 2003 I am a member of Polish Association of Voice Teachers. In 2012 I had been awarded a training trip for EVTA/International Association of Voice Teachers/ in Vienna. I am the co-author of „Lifelong Learning” publication – use of digital sources in the vocal pedagogy. Since 2002 I am a member of Association of Polish Artist Musicians, since 2003 as a member of the Management Board, since 2012 as Vice-President of Wrocław branch. I am the co-author of „Music Education in the Lower Silesia after the Second World War years 1945-1960” publication, issued by SPAM in 2013.
