Principal Doublebassist: NDR Symphony Orchestra Hamburg, Professor of Double Bass at Hannover University of Music and Drama
Mr. Beringer received his first Double Bass lessons at the age of ten. He was laureate of the German competition for young musicians, „Jugend Musiziert,“ and became a member of several youth orchestras. Beringer then went on to study with Professor Wolfgang Güttler at the Cologne University of Music and the Karlsruhe University of Music (finishing his stduies with a diploma of the highest level). For his solo diploma, Beringer studied with Professor Horst-Dieter Wenkel at the Liszt School of Music, Weimar. Masterclasses with Ovidiu Badila, ion Cheptea and Ulrich Lau completed his education.
During his studies, Ekkehard Beringer was a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra and Schleswig-Holstein-Music-Festival-Orchestra.
At the age of 24, Ekkehard Beringer became a member of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, (conducted by music director Sergiu Celibidache), at the age of 27, he became Associate Principal Double Bass of the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig and at the age of 29 became Principal Doublebass of the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
Since 2002, he has served as Principal Doublebass of the NDR Symphony Orchestra Hamburg. Masterclasses, solo recitals and chamber music concerts lead him to Croatia, Switzerland, Czech Republic, the Netherlands, and Belgium.
Since October 2008, Ekkehard Beringer has been a Double Bass professor at the Hannover University for Music and Drama.
