Trio Revirado


graduated with honours from Academy of Music in Krakow,Poland where he studied double bass under the supervision of Czeslaw Zabek. He participated in music workshops in Gingen, Chodzież and Krakow. Later he became a student of Michael Wolf. He has been playing chambemusic in the Capella Cracoviensis ensemble for many years. His versatility of interests has led to cooperating with renowned performers of various musical genres and styles: chamber music with Jadwiga Kotnowska, Leszek Potasinski and Waldemar Gromolak; cross-over repertoire blending tango, jazz and classical music with Waldemar Malicki and Vadim Brodski; and Latin music with Beatris Blanco and Jose Torres. Tango is his greatest passion. He has been recording and performing Astor Piazzolla's 'tango nuevo' since 1990. The starting point was his cooperation with Argentinean pianist Adrian Kreda in the Quarteto Polaco ensemble. Later he established his own 'Trio Revirado'. Currently he performs with accordionist Jarosław Bester as well as bandoneonist Wiesław Prządka. Trio Revirado's concerts were nominated for 'Parada 2001', a poll by the national newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza for the most outstanding cultural event of 2001. He has performed as soloist and in ensembles at major Polish festivals: the Music Festival in Lancut, the National Concert Hall Summer Festival, the All-Star Festival in Miedzyzdroje, Music in Old Cracow, the Bravo Maestro Series in Tarnow, the Virtuosity and Musical Joke Festival in Nowy Sącz, as well as many other national and international events. Mr. Frankowski has initiated numerous musical projects involving eminent Polish musicians. At present he is recording Astor Piazzolla's tangos inchamber music ensembles whose members specialize in this kind of music: Trio Revirado, Waldemar Malicki & the Tango Bridge Quintet and the Piazzoforte Project with pianist Kevin Kenner. He has recently set up a School of Tango in Krakow run with the help of instructors from the Argentine Tango Academy in Warsaw. It is with this association that he has been working on a project called Pomost Tanga (Tango Bridge), bringing together musicians, dancers, and actors from Poland, Germany, and Argentina.

 

Wiesław Prządka graduated from the Poznan Academy of Music as a student of Henryk Krzemiński. In 1986 he joined the Poznan Accordion Quintet with whom he concertised in Poland and abroad. And in 1990 they were awarded first prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in Paris. In 1993 he formed his own group "Musette Quartet" performing major French works in the "musette" style as well as popular jazz standards and Latin American music, and for the last few years he has also been performing his own compositions inspired by jazz and Latin American music. In 1998 he created yet another group, "Gypsy Swing" performing the czardas as well as swing music following in the footsteps of world-class musicians like violinist Stephan Grapelli and gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt. Since 1997 he has worked together with the Zbigniew Górny. In 1999 he arranged a program for solo accordion with symphony orchestra accompaniment, which is successfully performed in Philharmonic halls throughout Poland. His repertoire includes arrangements by top Polish arrangers of selected works by George Gershwin, Jobim, French waltzes, etc. In 2000 he was invited by pianist Waldemar Malicki to record the television programme "EL TANGO" presenting the wonderful Argentinean music of composer Astor Piazzolla. In planning the programme he encountered Grzegorz Frankowski, leader of the TRIO REVIRADO, with whom he initiated close collaboration and subsequently discovered his other great passion - the bandoneon. This year he decided to connect all of his musical interests. He organised the WIESŁAW PRZĄDKA QUARTET, with which he is able to fully display his artistic outlook. He concertises throughout Europe and also in the United States. He has made numerous recordings for broadcast on television and radio in Poland, Sweden and France, and has recorded a number of CDs.

Marek Piątek was born in 1968 of a musical family in Cracow. As a child he learned to play the violin. He completed his study at the Primary Music School playing classical guitar, then continued at the Musical Lyceum and the Music Academy in Cracow. As a student he organized the jazz ensemble "Overtime" which won a prize at the Jazz Juniors '90 Festival. Since then he has performed with various jazz ensembles including A. Kawończyk, B. Maseli, and J. Muniak. He has been prizewinner of a number of classical guitar competitions as well as the jazz guitar festival "Guitar City". He collaborates regularly with A. Awdiejew (with whom he made many recordings and television programmes), and also with other artists from the popular Cracovian jazz venue "Piwnica Pod Baranami" (G. Turnau, J. Wójcicki). He records theatre and film music with producers such as Z. Konieczny, J. Kanty Pawluśkiewicz, A. Korzeniowski and J. Ostaszewski. Together with popular guitarist J. Królik he co-produces projects exploring the sounds of the acoustic guitar. Since 2004 he has been a member of the Trio Revirado ensemble which specializes in the "tango nuevo" style. He occasionally collaborates with pianist W. Malicki, performing music of A. Piazzolla. He teaches classical guitar at the Musical Lyceum in Cracow.
