"Bassiona Polacca" it's one unique chamber ensemble, which consists of very original and characteristic sound of four double basses and charismatic interpretation of the players. Quartet established by under artistic conducting of Irena Olkiewicz started activity in 2003 consists from her present and former students, members of the Polish Double Bass Society and enthusiasts "music without boarders". The ensemble has performed many times in Lower Silesia and during such a prestigious events, like: XIV Chopin Confrontation in Antonin, World Bass Festival in Wroclaw, National Winter Double Bass Academy in Pielgrzymowice, or International Society of Bassists Convention in Michigan (USA), getting very good reviews. The members of "Bassiona..." change, depending on the repertoire, Irena Olkiewicz has cooperated with: Lukasz Tinschert, Dominik Schulz, Natalia Radzik, Satoko Waizumi, Kazimierz Cyna and Karol Kowal. Concerts of "Bassiona..." receiving high appreciation of the audience and professionals. In their repertoire man can find classic music from the baroque period to contemporary compositions, amusing transcriptions of well-known popular and entertaining pieces and it's own arrangements of such a works like Wojciech Kilar's "Orawa", Ennio Morricone's film music or pieces by Manuel de Falla as well.
