Karol Kowal born in 1983, in 2001 graduated from the Secondary School of Music, where he studied double bass under Radoslaw Maniak. On June 2006 graduated with distinction from the class of Irena Olkiewicz on the Instrumental Faculty of K. Lipiński's Academy of Music in Wroclaw. Karol Kowal won 1st price on Local Audition for Cello and Bass (Koszalin, Poland 2000), 3rd price and special award for the best performance of required piece on ISB Solo Competition (Richmond, USA 2003), 5th price on International J. M. Sperger's Double Bass Competition (Ludwigslust, Germany 2004), and 2nd price on ISB Solo Competition in Kalamazoo (Michigan, USA 2005).
