Łukasz Żyta was born in 1975 in Bydgoszcz. He graduated A. Rubinsein's primary and secondary School of Music in Bydgoszcz (1994) and Jazz Department at the Academy of Music in Katowice (1998). His jazz debut was in 1993 during Jazz Juniors Competition in Krakow with Youth Formation. With Joint Venture group he won 1st price in 1995 on this festival, in 1996 on Festival of Jazz Standards in Siedlce and award for the most promising band on Jazz Contest in Hoelaart (1996). He get 1st price on Competition for Jazz Drummers in Groodzisk Mazowiecki (1998) and individual distinction at Jazz on the Odra International Festival in Wroclaw (1998) He cooperated with: Janusz Muniak, Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski, Tomasz Szukalski, Zbigniew Namysłowski, Kuba Stankiewicz, Piotr Wojtasik, Piotr Baron, Andrzej Cudzich, Grzegorz Nagórski, Jarosław Śmietana, Henryk Miśkiewicz, Darek Oleszkiewicz, Michał Tokaj, Piotr Wyleżoł, Grażyna Auguścik, Urszula Dudziak, Iza Zając, Agnieszka Skrzypek, Ewa Bem, David Doruzka, Jaromir Honzak,Lee Konitz, Bennie Maupin, Dino Saluzzi, David Murray, David Friedman, Bobby Watson, Brad Terry, Tuna Otenel, William Galison, Steve Logan and others.
