Jerzy Stuhr born in 1947 graduated of Polish Philology at Jagiellonian University and Ludwik Solski State School of Drama in Cracow. Since 1971 has worked at the "Stary" Theatre in Cracow. Has co-operated with Konrad Swinarski, Jerzy Jarocki, Jerzy Grzegorzewski and Andrzej Wajda. An actor in films by Krzysztof Kieślowski (Amateur, Decalogue 10, White), Agnieszka Holland, Andrzej Wajda, Krzysztof Zanussi, Feliks Falk and Juliusz Machulski. Between 1990 and 1997 he was a chancellor of Ludwik Solski State School of Drama in Cracow; and now holds that position once again (till 2005). A theatre director, since 1994 - a film director. His films won many awards at the festivals both in Poland and abroad. Since 1998 he is a member of European Film Academy.
