Ewa Warykiewicz grew up in a musical environment. She was already taking piano-lessons at the age of 5, and at 13 performed Haydn’s D Major piano concerto in public. In 1976 she attended Prof. Jozef Stompel’s piano class at the Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, taking chamber rmusic classes with Prof. U. Musialska and Prof. R. Lasocki. She completed the course in 1980, continuing her studies afterwards with the international master classes of Prof. V. Kamenikova and Prof. R. Kehrer. Ewa Warykiewicz formed a longstanding duo with her violin – playing sister, Beata. They gave innumerable concerts as well as making recordings for radio and television.
In 1980 she won 2nd Prize in the National Chambermusic Competition in Lodz, Poland. She was also acclaimed for her accompaniment at the International Violin Competition in Lublin and Poznan and at the International Double Bass Competition in Markneukirchen. Since 1981 Ewa Warykiewicz has been teaching chamber music and accompaniment at the Academy of Music in Katowice as well as holding this post in the accompaniment class at the Lancut International String Master classes. In 1988, she began working with the double bass virtuoso Boguslaw Furtok. This partnership has led to innumerable concerts and recordings for radio and television.
Since 1997 she has also been teaching at the Frankfurt Musikhochschule, working intensively with Prof. Günter Klaus’ double bass class. Ewa Warykiewicz is a very active chamber music performer on the Polish music scene as well as abroad.
