8. Admission, procedures and regulations
Wratislavia International Double Bass Competition is open to participants in two categories:
A. Older Categorie: participants who were born before 3rd of August, 1990 but not later then 2nd of August 1978
B. Younger Categorie: participants who were born before 3rd of August, 1994 but not later then 2nd of August 1990,
In order to get admission one should:
A. Send by May 1th, 2008 (the date on the postmark is decisive) to the following address:

The following documents (are not subject to return):
• The registration form completed in English (an example included below)
• Copy of the ID confirming the dates of birth of the participant

• CD with bio in English, a photograph and the chosen programme

„Competition”
Polish participants should send the equivalent of 100 Euros in PLN according to the current NBP exchange rate.
B. The application fee should be paid before May 1th, 2008.
9. Admission regulations
1. On the basis of the registration forms admission to the Competition will be given to a maximum of 60 candidates in both categories follow the rules and regulations.
2. Only up to 16 participants will be admitted to the 2nd stage in the Older Categorie and only up to 8 participants in the Younger Categorie.
3. Only up to 6 participants in the Older Categorie and up to 4 participants only will be admited in the Younger Categorie to the Final. They will be the Competition Prizewinners.
10. Programme requirements
The Competition consists of 3 rounds and two categories:
A. Older Categorie: participants who were born before 3rd of August, 1990 but not later then 2nd of August 1978
B. Younger Categorie: participants who were born before 3rd of August, 1994 but not later then 2nd of August 1990,
Older First Stage
A) One piece of your choice from:
1. J. S. Bach – Prelude and one other part of Solo Suites for cello
(any tuning)
2. A. Egilsson – ”An Old Fashioned Piece”
3. H. Fryba – Prelude and one other part of “Suite in Olden Style”

B) One Capriccio or Tarantella for choice from:

*Contestants who wish to play using solo tuning are responsible for supplying a transposed piano part two weeks before Competition in advance if they are not bringing their own accompanist and if there is no published accompaniment in solo tuning for their choice of repertoire.
*Scoring factors for all stages will include, but are not limited to: difficulty and appropriateness of the chosen repertoire, quality and depth of the performance (both technically and musically),stage posture and presence, projection to and communication with the listener.
*All participant’s repertoire excluding the obligate piece in the first stage and the Sonata in the second stage in both Older and Younger Categories must be performed from memory.
*The Finalists will be accompanied by Wroclaw Symphony Orchestra
*Changes of participant’s repertoire will be accepted only up to 1th of May 2008.
11. Accompaniment
The organizers provide the accompaniment for the participants. The participants have no right to question their accompanists. However, the participants may provide their own accompanists, covering all the costs concerning the journey, accommodation and board.
Each participant has the right may have up to 60 minutes rehearsal with accompanist. A detailed plan of rehearsals will be announced one week before Competition.
12. The order of participation in the Competition auditions
At each round the participants draw their numbers. In case of the participant absence the Chairman of the Jury draws the number. If the participant is not ready to take part in the Competition in accordance with the number he has he loses the right to participate in the Competition.

Prizes are subject to taxation. The jury may divide the prizes on the basis of the level of the participants performance on condition that particular prizes can be neither lower nor higher then thous mentioned in the rules and regulations. All the participants of the Competition will be given the Certificate of Participation.
14. Broadcasting and recording of the Competition
The Competiton performances are open to public in all three rounds (including the Concert of the Prizewinners). The organizer of the Competition is autorized to record, audio and video, all concerts, all events within the period of the Competition and to use this recordings for publicity purposes. In particular the organizer reserves the right to authorize Radio and TV Stations to record and broadcast all events of the Competition. Now claims for reimbursement for participant may arrive from this. In the event of the recordings being used for commercial use, the recordings will become subject to further negotiations.
15. Accomodation and board
The booking of accommodation must be done by the participants. All costs of accomodation and board are covered by the participants.
16. Regulations settlement
All doubts concerning the above regulations can be dismised on the basis of the Polish text as a only valid
