Petr Kořínek Trio

Born 1943 in Brno. Graduated from the State Conservatory in Brno (1963-1969). Petr Koolnek hes been one ofthe best acoustic bass players in the Czech Republic for several decades.

Petr Korlnek is a professor at the conservaton/ of Jaroslav Jeżek in Prague.

Had been a member of ensembles and orchestras such as: Karel Velebny's S+HQ (1971-1975), Trio, Kvartet Karla Ruźieky (1978 - 1980), Laco Deczi's Jazz Celula (1974-1978), Big-Band Radio Praha (1972-1996)

Directs ensembles and orchestras such as:, Prague Jazz Quartet (since 1981), Moravian Jazz Duo (since 1991), Petr Kofinek Jazz Orchestra (since 1998), Petr Kofinek Trio or Quartet (since 2002)

Has worked on the international scene with Kenny Wheeler, Alan Praskin, Lee Harper, Charlie Mariano, Jeff Gardner, Harny Sokal, Bob Moover, Karin Edwards, Emil Mangelsdorff, etc.

Petr is a member of a chamber ensemble Baroque jazz kvintet lead by Jioi Hlavae and vocal/instrumental group Linha singers. ln 2005 Petr Kofinek established a trio with a guitar playerAdam Tvrdy and a drummer Otto Hejnic called TRIALOG and recorded a CD with the trio in September 2005. ln September 2006 recorded with „new" TRIALOG - the current members are Petr Kofinek, Adam Tvrdy and Vladimira Krekova (voice). Petr Kofinek performed in jazz festivals in Prague, Karlovy Vany, Pilsner, Olomouc, Brno, Liberec, Cheb, Bratislava, Zvolen, Košice, Trenein, Frankfurt, Gent, Blizen, Brussels, Istanbul, Middelheim, Warsaw, Molde, etc. Has recorded dozens of LPs, SPs, EPs and CDs either as his own projects or as a member of various groups and orchestras.

Has received several prizes for composition and interpretation on Czechoslovakian as well as international scene. Petr Kofinek composed hundreds of compositions for various instrumentations - from chamber music to big band, jazz orchestra with a mixed choir, string quartet, etc.

 

 

Petr Beneš (b. 1977) - pianoGraduated from the Jaroslav Jeżek Conservatony in Prague (2002), where he studied piano and composition under professors Jan Vrana and Karel Ruźieka. He represents the younger generation of jazz pianists playing mostly in Prague, in Bohemia and Moravia. His introverted musical style is in the spirit of modern jazz piano, and although his idols include international pianists like Keith Jarrett and Herbie Hancock, his music is full of the character of Czech and Moravian music.He was a long time member ofthe Reduta Big Band and the Czech Radio Big Band. He is currently playing with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, the Saint Blaźej Big Band and Jazz Efterätt. He has been teaching jazz interpretation at the Jaroslav Jeżek Conservatony since 2002.He has been working closely with Petr Kooinek since 2000.

Czesław Bartkowski (b. 19 April 1943 Łódź) Graduated from High School of Music in Wrocław (profesor Edmund Treichel). Jazz drummer continuingly playing since 1960. One of the most important personalities of the Polish jazz stage. As for 1992 he has been also teaching drums at the Chopin High School of Music in Warsaw; head of the Faculty of Jazz at that School.
He started learning music at age of six. As a child was member of a mixed Male and Boy Cathedral and Radio Wrocław Choir conducted by a great choirmaster Edmund Kajdasz.
He made his debut as a jazz drummer in 1960 with Jerzy Paklulski “Far Quartet” and ever since he has been performing with outstanding Polish and foreign musicians.

As from 1993 – member of Andrzej Jagodzinski Trio.

Also worked with foreign musicians, i.e. Art Farmer, Aladar Pege, Ben Webster, Clark Terry, Joe Newman, Freddie Hubbard.
He performed at many worldwide jazz festivals (in USA, Israel, Etiopia, New Zealand, Australia, Japa, India and all over the Europe i.e.: Montreux, The North Sea, Berliner Jazz Tage, Molde, Comablain-La-Tour, Warsaw Jazz Jamboree).
He is a Honorary Member of Tauranga Jazz festival Society and The New Orleans Clubs New Castle on Tyne England.

was born on July 31,1975 in Prague. He studied drums and piano at Jaroslav Jeżek Conservatony and, after graduating, became a professor of drums and ensemble performance at that school.

He is currently a member of Petr Hanzlik Quintet, Jan Śtolba Quartet, The Swings, Petr Kooinek Trio (or Quartet) and Vit Śvec Trio; since 2006 he regularly collaborates with Veleband.

Jan has taken part in a number of projects, for example with Emil Mangelsdorf, Michel Montanaro, www.band.cz featuring Tony Lakatos etc., recorded a lot of music for movies and theatre and performed at numerous European festivals, including Kishinev, Frankfurt am Main, Jazz Goes To Town, and Prague Jazz Festival. On Januany 2008 he played a tour of the Czech Republic with John Serny and Adam Tvrdy Trio.
